Experience the Best of Far North Queensland on Our 6-Day Tour | 20-25 June 2025

Aerial view of a tropical island with lush greenery, reminiscent of Sydney's coastal allure, surrounded by clear turquoise water. A long pier stretches from the island, where a large white boat is docked under partly cloudy skies. The horizon mirrors the distant mystique of the Blue Mountains.

Explore the wonders of Far North Queensland – its lush greenery and diverse wildlife, and cruise along its crystal clear waters. This journey will be filled with unforgettable encounters in Australia’s tropical paradise!

The Funtastic Tour Company brings you the Far North Queensland 6-Day Tour by starting with a scenic ride on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, gliding above the treetops to reach the charming village of Kuranda. Known for its arts, crafts, and natural views, Kuranda offers a unique look into the local culture. The return journey on the Kuranda Scenic Railway provides stunning views of Barron Falls and lush rainforest landscapes.

The adventure continues with a day exploring the Daintree Rainforest, one of the world’s oldest rainforests. Start with a memorable Breakfast with the Birds at Wildlife Habitat, where colourful birds roam freely. Then, visit the tranquil Mossman Gorge, surrounded by ancient trees and a peaceful river. A cruise along the Daintree River completes the day, with opportunities to spot wildlife along the mangrove-lined banks.

On the next day, we set out to the Great Barrier Reef. Begin with a visit to Green Island, a unique coral cay, before reaching a pontoon on the reef. Activities include snorkelling, a glass-bottom boat tour, and viewing marine life from underwater windows—a full day of reef exploration and wonder.

Our final day takes us to the Atherton Tablelands. Enjoy a serene cruise on Lake Barrine, see the remarkable Curtain Fig Tree, and explore the Herberton Historic Village—a step back into Queensland’s pioneer history.

This morning we board the coach for a sightseeing tour of Cairns before we embark on our gondola journey up the mountain with Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. We glide across the rooftop of the tropical rainforest with spectacular views. Surrounded by world heritage rainforest lies the picturesque village of Kuranda. The town is full of arts and craft shops and we have plenty of time to explore the village and purchase lunch. Boarding the Kuranda Scenic Railway, track through picturesque valleys and century old tunnels of the magnificent Barron Falls National Park, taking in unsurpassed views of dense rainforest, steep ravines, and picturesque waterfalls.

An early start sees us indulge in the ultimate “Breakfast with the Birds” at Wildlife Habitat. Immersed within the wetland environment, enjoy an array of sounds and colours from wildlife as they wander freely amongst us while we are treated to a fantastic tropical breakfast. Next, we visit Mossman Gorge, where we learn the fascinating secrets of Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest, one of the world’s oldest tropical rainforests. Feel the serenity while watching the river as it tumbles its way over and around the huge granite boulders. We then head to the Daintree River where we embark on a cruise on one of the most densely populated mangrove estuaries in the world. There is nothing quite like watching wildlife while cruising along the beautiful Daintree River. After another fantastic day we return to Cairns.

(Breakfast at Wildlife Habitat | Lunch at Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre | Dinner at hotel)

Today will be spent on the Great Barrier Reef with Great Adventure Cruises. Cairns is a major gateway to the reef – the largest and most complex expanse of living coral on earth. Our first stop is to the beautiful Green Island for a leisurely self-guided nature walk on this unique reef and rainforest coral cay. Departing Green Island we continue our day’s adventure on the Great Barrier Reef. We moor alongside a permanent pontoon and enjoy an “on board” reef presentation and a delicious buffet lunch. Our afternoon will include a fish feeding display through the air-conditioned underwater windows, a touch tank display, glass bottom boat coral viewing tour and the use of snorkelling equipment to see the underwater display of coral and fish. We return to Cairns late afternoon to complete a fabulous day!

(Breakfast and dinner hotel | Lunch included)

Our destination today is the vibrant green land of the Atherton Tablelands. Travelling to Lake Barrine, a beautiful volcanic crater lake, we enjoy morning tea in the Tea House followed by a relaxing cruise on the stunning lake. We then visit the remarkable Curtain Fig Tree, with its curtain of aerial roots that drop 15 metres to the ground. Large basalt boulders cover the forest floor which is probably why the forest here wasn’t cleared for farming – and why the tree remains standing. Travelling to the small township of Herberton, we step back in time at the delightful Herberton Historic Village. Showcasing Australia’s diverse history, this outdoor pioneer museum is a testament to an era that is long gone. We have lunch here and time to wander the village which features many priceless antiques as well as buildings that have come from the town’s ancestors. Completing today’s touring, we head back to Cairns for time to freshen up before this evening’s dinner at Dundee’s Restaurant.

(Breakfast at hotel | Lunch at Lake Barrine | Dinner at Dundee’s Restaurant)

Following breakfast, we farewell our hosts and are transferred to Cairns airport for our flight back to Brisbane after a fantastic tour to Australia’s tropical paradise.
